Can it be fixed? We'll soon find out.

Extensive battery damage

There is some controversy as to whether or not to use white vinegar to clean the corrosion off battery damaged boards. Although, there doesn't seem to be any harm doing so. Some say it's pointless, like a placebo. I can not say that I have 20+ years experience fixing these things but, I'm a believer in doing it. If it's not going to do any harm why not. I feel that no matter how good you are cleaning boards, you'll never get down to the level that a chemical can. I neutralize the corrosion with a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar. Rinse the board with water. Rinse again with Isoproyl Alcohol, 90% or higher. Remove all the componets in the affected area. Repeat the rinsing with 50/50 vinegar/water, water then alcohol. Sand the board with 600 grit sand paper. Follow up with a fiber glass pen dipped in straight vinegar. Rinse with water and then alcohol again. Then solder coat the traces fixing any that have corroded through. Replace components and apply a conformal coating
